Tip of the Day 11/22/2012

Protect your Earned Income Credit
I mentioned in yesterday’s tip that the amount of your income tax refund attributable to the EIC is exempt in bankruptcy. That means the bankruptcy trustee can’t take it away from you. If you receive your tax refund before you file the bankruptcy petition you can still protect the money you got for the EIC but you must take the exact amount of the EIC and put it in a separate bank account. Call me for details about protecting your exemptions in bankruptcy. (812) 336-7293.
